Hello Sri,
I think the answer is YES, as this is the season where most of the marriages occur and lot of purchases takes place. So by giving flat 40% or flat 50% off the shopkeepers are going to attract huge number of customers and by that they can gain lot of money even after discounts.

Thanks Sri for posting good thread.
I Wonder why people rush to shops for Aashadam shopping or Aadi sale.
The shopekeepers increase the rates by 100 percent and offer 50 percent discout during this month.
Since this is not a auspicious month, many wont go for shopping.
To attract such customers aashadam sales are announced.
The offers need not be taken seriously.

Hi Mohan
What you said is 100 percent right. In Aashada masam, there wont be any marriages and this the time where farmers invest their money in farms and work. As the marriages are main concentration for the showrooms, there wont be any floating of people to showrooms to purchase gold or clothes.
Will any shop owners think of loosing their money which they invested. They just attract the people by announcing discounts. These offers mainly attract the middle group families as they think of getting more quantities with less price. So that, they can save the discounted amount for other purposes.

Yes Mohan.
You presented realty. They just don't offer any discount. They increase the price and hungry people go and grab them with original price. In ashadam no marriages, so they offer discounts.
Due to discounts, sales definitely increases.

Hi friends,
The sales will definitely increase by giving discounts especially in aashadam season. It is really a beneficial period for the shopkeepers as the sales will increase tremendously. Especially ladies will not see the requirements, they want to avail the opportunity and will buy even if they do not need the garments. One more thing is prestige issue as other ladies will ask - Have you viisited so and so showroom during this season they are offering discounts on fresh stocks.
The shopkeepers also start this discount to clear the old stocks too, as in shravanamasam marriages and functions will start, to bring new stocks also they will keep these sales and clear all the old stock. Sometimes the durability of the sarees will be not upto the mark, which were purchased in this aashadam sale.
