This photo which is taken opposite Hotel Marriot shows the sad state of Hussain Sagar and its waters.

    Hi Mohan,

You are right, lot of inconvinience caused by standing near tank bund, when I came to Hyderabad I used to think that one day I will come near tank bund and sit with my wife/girl friend :) for a timepass, but to the current situation I feel bad about and never tried to step there.

But even today I feel that I am missing the place, I really love the way it is around hussain sagar but not happy with the water and wastage lodged in water.

One of the main for clogging wastage is Idols immensed at the time of Vinayaka Chavithi, hope for a day where we can see pollution free hussain sagar and tank bund.

    Regards,
    Sra1

    Yes

I agree with Sravan that the main source of waste in the Hussain Sagar is not any industries but the people themselves. The people of Hyderabad took Hussain Sagar's cleanliness for granted till not and daily throwing waste in to it.

The government should definitely improve the cleaning process, but before that they should create mass awareness of the futere effects of a polluted lake and should put posters saying the same.

Sra1 and Maheedhar thanks for responding. Yes the clean Hussain Sagar is the cause of concern for citizens of this great city. 10k runs are being organised often to create an awareness. But participants seldom forgets for the reason they are running. May good sense prevail on the administrators.

It is good initiative to bring such an issue into focus, thanks to Mohan. But unfortunately we have very few people responding to it. Conservation of natural resources is everyones responsibility and one should take part whenever such movement comes.

It is a prevealing fact that Hussain Sagar is getting polluted day by day. And it is our responsibility to protect our HS. We should keep it clean and also make others to follow the same. let me ask one question, -- How many of us have patience to carry the wastage of ice cream/chana(the paper) till dust bin and throw it into the dustbin???
We can expect very few "Yes" here. We directly throw the wastage into the lake considering that this is a small one, and it wont affects much. but if it is done my many people then garbage will be piled up.

We should, not only avoid throwing such into the lake but also stop others from doing so..

after all it is for our convinience!!!

    rgds,
    SSay.

Thanks Srinivas and i thought there are no members to respond to such issues and discuss in detail. Good that you have analysed the issue very nicely. Though Hussain sagar is declared as plastic free area, many visitors do carry eatables in plastic and throw them and litter over the area.

Some years back Rotary club has constructed a childrens park there behind Vivekananda statue. Today it has become a den for shabby activities during the evenings and Children are no were seen as the playing items have been broken or out of shape.

Please see this photo and know the plight.
