Hi Srini,
Good that you have initiated this topic, many of us think that we will not voilate the rules but still not stick to that, let me share my experience. I had brought new bike and have got temporary registration number, later I went to RTO office in Kondapur for applying permanent registration number.
I collected all the documents required for registration from Internet and taken them to RTO office, one of my friend asked me to take Affidavit filed by owner stating that I am the occupant of his house from the past xx years, I took it from one of the advocate by paying 150 rupees.
I reached RTO office other day and shown all my documents to the officer, he checked everything including the affidavit and asked me to get BSNL landline phone bill on my name (I was confused) how can he expects a phone bill in short span without having a connection at my home, I shown the affidavit as a proof but he didn't accepted.
A broker standing outside watching all this came to me and asked me to give 400 rupees for smooth process, I voilated the rule in bribing, nothing to do just to loose 400 in getting the registration number. Broker took whatever the documents I had given and officer have not even put single question, I feel greedy officer is the one who wantedly puts the people in trouble and force them to bribe instead of questioning them.
I took oath on that day, not to bribe anyone for anything.
Regards, Sra1
