Praveen thanks for joining this site and welcome to this forum. You have given a good information for the use of members and even general public too. Many people still do not have their voter ID card for different reasons. Hope this information will pave way for those who are denied of this card.

Praveen thanks a ton for this information.
I was wondering if there is any facility for online voter registration for so long. This is very useful information for all those who want to apply for a fresh voter id instead of waiting for next elections.
You can also go to http://eci.nic.in/eci_main to download the form in the voter registration tab
The form 6 is the one that is required to be downloaded for fresh inclusion of voter.
Also you can make corrections in your present voter id, and check the status of the processing of voter id card

How to apply voter id
Many of us does not know that Voter's ID card is not a mandatory document for Voting.., Voter ID card is only for Identity purpose.., if you have any other identity docs like Passport, PAN card or Driving license, Govt issued ID card, then you do not need a Voter ID card.
Want to Vote as an NRI, click here
For voting, you should have your name registered in the Voters list, once you have your name, you can caste your vote by showing any Identity document.
Still you want to voter's ID card, then Government of India does not offer a single office where you can go and get your voter ID card as you can do for Driving license or passport. However you can request your name to be added in the voters list by filling up the form to your nearest Electoral Registration Officer (ERO).
At specific time periods, generally before Lok Sabha or Vidhan Sabha elections, Election Commission of India (ECI) organizes campaigns to issue voter ID cards, you can find the ads in the news paper regarding this. You can visit the given location and apply for the Voter ID card. They will give you some time to collect your card.
Sometimes they come to your home, that is the easiest way to get the card. Once your card is ready, you can go and collect it.
After doing all these things, still you are not sure that your card will be ready. If your card is not ready before election, then you have to wait for the next election to come and a new campaign.
