Immediately after being sworn in as , Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah convened an emergency Cabinet meeting which adopted a resolution to name Kadapa district after Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy as a tribute to the departed leader.

Kadapa is very dear to the late leader. His contribution to the development of the district of immense. The renaming is the fitting tribute to the departed leader.
