How to build a Search engine Optimized page?
Search Engine Optimization: Here are some previously posted articles about Search Engine Optimization. Kindly go through them. - Searchers and Search Engine - Usage of Keywords in a webpage - Unique magic titles
A brief note of those articles :- Searchers and Search Engine:We have control over webpages, We have no control over Search Engines and we have no control over searchers. These are the only things we have control over when searchers look for stuff in the web : The URL The Description The Page Title- Use of keywords:Use of keyword in URL Keyword in title tag Keyword density Keyword rich anchor text Keywords in heading Keyword in the begining of the article- Unique Magic Title Google make a note or index of two things when it come across HTML Webpage. 1. The words within the page - information 2. where the words were found
There is special weight for words depending on the place where they are found. Like Words in the title, subtitles, meta tags and other important portions (bold words) have special importance.
Spiders are Blind but Visitor isn't. So, we have to optimize our page for both Search engine and searcher. And Spiders are good readers. They keep on reading lots of html code.
In HTML Code, The Font End is the one which we see like Title, headings, sub-headings, anchor links, images, text etc. Apart from this, Bots concentrate on one more thing. META Tags - It is a part of Back End.
All these make up a complete page. So, we have to take care of everything. If we can show better improvement on each part, then this better .. better adds upto best. Then your page will be in the first Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs).
Front Part: Almost everyone of you are familiar with what appears in the Front - Title, headings, sub-headings, information, anchor tags and pictures. Let me brief them up here:
1. Choose a good title based on whom(searchers) are you targeting. Use Keyword in proper phrase.
2. You should not use more than one H1 Tag in a single page. So, Use it properly. In all our Spider sites, By default H1 tag is already used same as the title of the page. You can see it in Page Source Code by pressing Ctrl + U. So, Don't Use H1 tag anywhere in the post.
3. Use H2 tags for headings and H3 tags for sub-headings. Make sure that you use good weight keywords in these tags. Don't unnecessarily spam them..!
4. You can also use H4 tags for sub-sub headings and one line points check example. It looks similar to bold. But adds little more value than Bold. The point is you cannot use h4 tag as bold because a new line space is created above and below. For eg: Date of Birth of Allu Arjun : October 12th 1983.
5. Bold keyword phrases in the text which you feel important and searcher may be interested to have look at it. This also adds weight for Page Rank.
6. (MUST) Provide Good information and present it in appropriate way. So that visitor stay in your page for sometime reading it.Thereby Increasing the probability of clicking on our Ads.
7. Also, Go though Instructions given by Tony sir here : Review of a Resource
Note - Regarding usage of H - Tags: For every H tag, a blank line space is created and after the tag. And for h1, h2 and h3 tags the color of the tag is black. If you want to have color for the headings then you have to go for Font tag. [ <h2><font color="blue" .. as I used above or you many use any other color...> </font> </h2>]. Use HTML properly and sensibly.
Complete this part successfully without any HTML errors. With this we had made clear for both searcher to have good information and search engine to read the page without any HTML errors.
Now comes the META Tags....Back PartWhat is MATA Tag? This is the information inserted in the "head" are of your web pages which is not seen by those viewing the pages in browsers. Meta elements can be used to specify page description, keywords and any other metadata not provided through the other head elements.
The meta description tag allows you to influence the description of your page in the spiders that support the tag. Generally, 200 - 250 characters may be indexed, though only a smaller portion of this is displayed.
For this page, I would prepare Meta description like this: " Explains how to build Search engine Optimized pages. Enlightens common mistakes which you have to avoid for better page rank"
Some search engines may ignore Meta tags and automatically generate description in SERP's with snippets. Mostly, it will be Meta tags or a combination of Meta Tags and snippets. In review, it is worthy to use the meta description tag for pages, because it gives you some sort of control with various crawlers. An easy way to do this often is to take the first sentence or two of body copy from your web page and use that for the meta description content.
So, The first two lines of our article are shown as meta description. I think this won't be small description of the huge article as we just write the heading and start our article with simple words. This is common mistake which is going on unknowingly. We start writing huge articles beginning with h2 tag ...... and some times font color =".... . And these unnecessary words coming in Search Engine Result Pages (SERP's) description of our links and creating a small room for searcher to leave the link. You can see an example here:
Check out this link : Google Search - Suzuki Laxmi Mumbai

See the second link. This is a Resource of MaharashtraSpider.com (sister site). This is the description about the page - "hrfont color=blue List of Maruti Suzuki Car Dealers in Mumbai/hr/fontullibuAutomotive ... Mumbai, Maharashtra Tel: 022- 24473030; Laxmi Cars Pvt. Ltd. ..." This description is starting with some wrongly used/spelled words (as < and > symbols are removed from the description which we have submitted). Also, It doesn't give correct description of the Link. These kind of description misleads the searcher. In some cases descriptions like this looses the searcher.
Our aim is to be better in all possible ways: I suggest everyone to give a brief description around 20 words. So, this will come as description in the SERP's. Also, it doesn't harm our article. And after that as usual you will start your article by starting with H2 tags and carry on. Use your keywords and frame phrases properly and use them. Target it in such a way that the visitor should come to your page directly without giving him chance to go for other. I think SERP's description plays a major. Most searchers visit reading this description. In some cases, spider combines this meta description with snippet and display it.
Bottom Line: Add good description about your resource in 20 words (keyword phrases) in the starting of the article which you want to appear as description in SERP's. Use it properly seeing through searchers eye's.
The Meta Keywords Tag The meta keywords tag allows you to provide keyword phrases for search engines to index along with your body copy. Many crawlers say they ignores them. But, There are many practical examples, for which their pages are ranked with use this keywords. There are sites which use 70 -80 keywords in their meta keyword tag. Some SEO Professionals say that "Its always good to be on safe side by providing keywords. Because algorithms keep on changing. Why to take a chance?"
In all the spider sites, you can provide upto 20 tags per page. These tags are used as meta keywords for your pages. I suggest you to make use of this tags also. You will get points (1 point for every 4 tags) along with some extra chance for good page ranking.
Selecting good keyword isn't sufficient. But using it properly and creating a good and meaningful keyword density is required. And Don't Spam it...!
