Telengana Agitation re started

The separate State for Telengana is a long awaited issue since independence and from then on at various intervals different people, leaders have agitated for a separate state of Telengana. But when we compare those agitations and the one started in 2009 is very different. The Congress government has promised in their manifesto that they would start the process for a separate state of Telengana but nothing has been done and this has provoked many leaders from the Telengana Region.

With this in mind the TRS (Telengana Rastriya Samiti) decided to start the Agitation again and in a different way and this paved the way for Mr K Chandra Shekar Rao to go for a fast unto death so that the government can start the process. The fast unto Death by MR. KCR started on November 29 and we all know what happened the dramatic way how he was arrested and later shifted to NIMS hospital Hyderabad and this has raked anger among the party cadre and people of Telengana Region. The hospital was flooded with TRS party workers, students of Osmanian University and also students from different places and it as very difficult for the state government to control the situation. Even inside the hospital KCR was on fast and by force the government in order to control the situation and also to save KCR on the 9 th of December 2009 the Home minister of India Mr. Chitambaram late in the night has announced that the process for a separate state would start. This brought cheers to the people of Telengana and KCR stopped his fast.

The congress government did not expect the sudden change in the party leaders and also MLAs, MPs and others all across different parties and from the next day leaders from Andhra and Rayaseema came on to the streets and started the movement for Samayka Andhra (Unified Andhra Pradesh) and all the MLS, MPs and different nominated and elected member of different bodies submitted their resignation and in all these places agitation started and there were Bandhs and lot of property of Public and private has been destroyed and a lot of pressure has been put on the central government and seeing all this for many days from 10 Dec to 22 December the government bowed down to the pressure and on the 23 December after a long meeting at around 7.30 pm Mr Chitambaram gave a press meet and said that the government wants to take consensus of different parties involved in the process and then decide what it should do.

The Telengana region people and parties were waiting for this second statement and since this was not in their favour right after the announcement at 7.30 there were lot of agitations by the Telengana students and parties at different places in the region. All the leaders condemned the centers statement and Kakatiya University students around 2000 protested in fromt of the Police Head Quarters and also marched up to the Telugu Desam Party Office and did a lot of havoc and also parallel in Hyderabad Student from Osmania university started agitation. The party leaders gave a call for the agitation and the next morning many train were blocked and the TRS gave a call for 2 day bandh and all the public transport was stopped. Around 10 trains were stopped in between for 8-10 hours and also all the Autos/taxis were halted and also the Singareni Employees boycotted their work. This had a great impact in the region. In the morning of 24 December there was lathi charge and stone throwing between students and police in Hyderabad.

Mean while in the Kalinga Hall in Banjara Hills all the parties of Telengana Region Came together and formed Joint Action Committee and in the day all the ministers, MLAs, MPs totaling around 92 resigned from their posts and also all the local body members resigned from their posts. The TDP leaders were attacked by some miscreants in OU campus. The JAC looking at the sentiments of the people withdrew the Bandh on 25 on the eve of Christmas and later announce the bandh is cancelled till 28 because of Mohoram and gave an ultimum to the government to come out with a statement by 28 Dec or face the consequences.
