Hyderabad and the parts of Old city of Hyderabad is known for people of different communities to live in peace and harmony by and large. But on March 28 Hyderabad and parts of Old city saw yet again the communal violence erupting and leading the police to impose curfew in parts of the Hyderabad City.

As per the Hyderabad Police Commissioner AK Khan the curfew would be imposed till the place is peaceful.

How the communal violence began in Hyderabad – tension in Hyderabad

Communal violence in Hyderabad started with a small heated exchange between the two communities. It goes like this there was a small trouble which began in Moosa Bowli a muslim dominated place.

The people saw members of a community removing the green flags and putting up the saffron flags which were erected during the recent festival. This created anguish and there was a heated exchange between the two groups and it turned out into clashes between the two groups and took a different magnitude.

As soon as the incidents of communal riots occurred the local legislators belonging to the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) party and also the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reached the areas within no time. MIM legislator Ahmed Pasha Khadri raised allegations on the police that they were not duty bound but remained as mute spectators to the incidents of attacks on the houses and belongings of the minority community. In turn the police has done lathi charge on the youth of the community.

But reiterating to the comments the BJP leader G. Ramaswamy has said that this is something which some people of vested interests created trouble by objecting to the installation of saffron flags because it was Hanuman Jayanthi. He however said that there is no objection on the minority community to install the flags on their festivals.
