    Grading system of SSC

    This gives a brief summary on the grades awarded to students based on SSC results 2010.


    The state Government for the first time introduced the grading system for SSC results 2010.This grading system is similar to that of CBSE.

    Classification of Grades for SSC results 2010

    The grades are classified in to 9 cadres and in five different categories.
    The nine different grades are A1,A2,B1,B2,C1,C2,D1,D2 and E.

    Categories in grading SSC results

    The 5 categories are
    1. General
    2. Deaf and Dumb
    3. Blind students
    4. Nerves weakness
    5. OSSC category

    1.Grading of General category for SSC:
    The regular and private students will come under this category.They attempt the exams for 60 marks.

    Inorder to get A1 grade, the marks range is 600 -509.
    For A2 grade, the marks range is 508 – 470.
    For B1 grade, the marks range is 469 – 435.
    For B2 grade, the marks range is 434 - 404.
    For C1 grade, the marks range is 403 – 374.
    For C2 grade, the marks range is 373 – 343.
    For D1 grade, the marks range is 342 – 308.
    For D2 grade, the marks range is 307 – 204.
    Grade E candidates are considered as Fail.

    Grading of Deaf and Dumb for SSC:

    Deaf and dumb students will write the exams for 400 marks only. Based on these marks, the grades are alloted for them.
    For A1 grade, the marks range is 400 -303.
    For A2 grade, the marks range is 302 – 272.
    For B1 grade, the marks range is 271 – 252.
    For B2 grade, the marks range is 251 - 231.
    For C1 grade, the marks range is 230 – 212.
    For C2 grade, the marks range is 211 – 187.
    For D1 grade, the marks range is 186 – 162.
    For D2 grade, the marks range is 161 – 99.
    Grade E candidates are considered as Fail.

    3.Grading of Blind students for SSC:

    Blind students are also considered as specila category. They attempt the exam for 600 marks but the pass mark in each subject is only 20 marks and the grades range is also different for them.

    For A1 grade, the marks range is 600 - 453.
    For A2 grade, the marks range is 452 – 426.
    For B1 grade, the marks range is 425 – 407.
    For B2 grade, the marks range is 406 - 388.
    For C1 grade, the marks range is 387 – 372.
    For C2 grade, the marks range is 371 – 338.
    For D1 grade, the marks range is 337 – 308.
    For D2 grade, the marks range is 307 – 196.
    Grade E candidates are considered as Fail.

    4. Grading of Nerve Weakness Students for SSC:

    These candidates will come under PH-4 category. For these students, English subject is eliminated and must attempt the remaining 5 subjects. Like others only, these students will have a pass mark of 35 out of 100. The total marks for these students is 500.

    5.Grading of OSSC for SSC

    These candidates can write any six subjects out of seven. One subject is given as optional for them.If these candidates score more than 462 marks out of 600, they will be awarded A1 grade.


    The classification of grades based on the marks will be given on the backside of the students Marks memo sheets.

    By using this details, I think students can find out their grades based on the marks they received in SSC examinations.
