Koulutla Chennakesava Swamy Temple, Kurnool District.

Koulutla Chennakesava Swamy Temple located in Kurnool District DevanaKonda Mandal between Kappatralla and P. Kotakonda Reserve Forest.

History of the temple:

Long Ago Some Rishi (saint) built an Ashram. They were performing Yaga. Grand Son of Pandavas Janamejaya Maharaja comes to Ashram while on a hunting trip and spent a night. On that day Lord Chennakesava Swamy came to his dream, and asked to construct a temple for him. Next day Janamejaya Mharaja told Koundinya Maharashi about this dream and Lord Chenakesava Swamy.

Janamejaya Maharaj took permission from Koundinya to construction a temple. He consecrated the idol of Lord Chennakesava Swamy and Bult a temple. After some years, the temple was damaged and covered by ant hill (Putta), villagers nearby temple came here to feed their cattle.

One day Golla Koulutla, observed one of his cows not to give milk at home. He deeply observed the cow one day. The cow went to the ant hill and letting its milk flow. He listened to OMKARAM from the ant hill. Koulutla Spent a night there. Lord Chennakesava appeared in his dream and asked to re-construct the temple.

The boy told the matter to villagers and re-constructed the temple. From that day Temple named after Koulutla. The deity was known as Koulutla Chennakesava Swamy.

As per archeological records found in 1964, Agraharam Jamindar, Varadarajulu Consecrate the idol of swamy for the third time.

We can see Sri Krishna Devaraya Details on the Walls of the temple. He Donated many Lands to the temple.

Brahmostvams:

Koulutla Chennakesava Swamy Brahmathsovams are performed every year in Maghamasam. Many Devotees attend for Rathyatra from different places in Andhra Pradesh. First President of India Dr. Babu Rajendra Prasad Visited the temple and perform pooja.

How to Reach

It is a hill top temple, Kowndanya Ashram and Koneru (Tank). 10Km distance Kurnool-Ballary Road, Kappatralla Bus Stop. Auto Rickshaws available frequently in Sravanamasm. Own vehicles preferred to easy journey.
