Adilabad District was formed in 1905.
Adilabad is the second largest district in the Telangana Region.

Boundaries:

East: Chanda District of Maharastra.
West: Nanded District of Maharastra.
North: Yeotmal and Chanda of Maharastra.
South: Karimnagar and Nizamabad Districts.

Adilabad District was formed into five Divisions: 1. Adilabad 2. Nirmal 3. Utnoor 4. Asifabad 5. Mancherial.

Important Rivers and Water sources:
Godavari, Pengange, Wardha, Pranahita, Kadam and Peddavagu, Satnala, Swarna Vagu, Suddavagu.

Urban Population: 6,56,343 (26.48%)

Forest Area : 6944.5 sq.km (43% of the Tota District Area)

Adilabad District ranks first in earning revenue from minerals in Andhra Pradesh.
