    Idli - A declicious breakfast

    Idli is a delicious breakfast for all age groups. This resource gives you the Preparation of Andhra Idli. Idli Preparation is explained in detail in this resource.


    Idli is famous food in Andhra Pradesh

    Preparation of Idli is very simple and easy.

    Ingredients

    Urad Dal - 1/4 kg
    Idli Rava - 1/2 kg or 3/4 kg
    Salt - 1 tsp
    Methi - 15 Nos.

    Preparation Method

    Wash urad dal and soak in water for 5 to 6 hours. Drain the water, and put the urad dal in wet grinder. Allow the urad dal to turn into a very soft paste. While grinding pour water as and when required. While grinding put the methi also in the grinder. Once the soft paste is ready remove it from the wet grinder and put in a big bowl. Now take the idli rava and wash it 3 to 4 times, and remove the excess water and mix the rava with urda dal paste. Now, put the salt and mix well.

    Keep at aside for 8 hours. Then take the paste and mix it well. The paste should be soft. Now take idli stand plates, apply little oil on the plates, then put the paste into the plates. Now put the plate in the idli cooker. Allow it to cook for 10 minutes. Now the idlis will be ready. Take them away and put them in serving bowl.

    Serve the hot idlis with coconut chutney and sambar or any other chutney which you like.

    Idlis are a good food for kids, children and old people too.

    It is a easily digestable food. Oil is not used, so there is no fear of increasing weight. Urad dal is very good for back pain. It gives good strength.

    Note - Methi is used to get soft idlis.
