A twist in the AP Politics on 24th November,2010. The change in Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh all of a sudden raises a lot of doubts in Political critics. The New Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh is Kiran Kumar Reddy. This resource tries to unveil the secrets and reasons behind the selection of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister.

Rosaiah's Resignision

Rosaiah went to Delhi to discuss the matters of Poolavaram project. He denied the rumors which said that he was going to meet Sonia Gandhi and discuss about the Jagan Issue. He went to Delhi and came back. After nearly a day Rosaiah officially announced his resignation to the media in a press conference. Immediately after that Rosaiah went to the Raj Bhavan to submit his resignation letter to the governer. Just a few hours after the announcement of Rosaiah resignation the new chief minister was announced in the CLP meeting.

If the fact that Rosaiah met Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi was false then how come the High Command could select the new prime minister in hours is the question that remains unanswered.

CLP Meeting

Generally CLP meeting happen among the state leaders of congress. As soon as the CLP meeting was called various possibilities came into the minds of everyone. It was expected by many that the Jagan issue will be discussed in this meeting. The reason was not clear as to which topic is going to be discussed at the meet. And at the CLP meet Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Law Minister Veerappa Moily announced the new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh as Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Kiran Kumar Reddy – Selection Criteria

There are many personalities in Congress who have the experience and caliber to become the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Some of the possibilities were thought to be Geeta Reddy, Jaipal Reddy etc. But congress found Kiran Kumar Reddy to be the most apt choice under the present scenario. The following points could be said as the selection criteria :

1) Loyalty : He is a loyal congressman. Although he was very close member to YS Rajashekar Reddy, after his death he gave support to the High Command instead of YS Rajashekar Reddy.

2) YSR's Favorite : As a YSR favorite he gets slight or nearly full support from the Jagan group as well. Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy himself stated that he would be continuing all the welfare programs that YSR started. Even Surakha Reddy who always used to oppose the High command agreed with this decision. Thus strengthening the High Command and weakening Jagan's side.

3) Hyderabadi :Kiran Kumar Reddy is born and brought up in Hyderabad. Although he is an elected MLA of Rayalameema region, he strongly says that he is a Hyderabadi. This combination may have a little effect on the Telangana issue.

4) Leadership Qualities: Kiran Reddy won 4 out of 5 times he stood in elections. And when he became the speaker he very well managed the opposition parties.

He is a strong man mentally and thus congress chose him as the new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
