From the start Kiran Kumar Reddy, the new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh has been saying that the Deputy Chief Minister post will for sure go to a Telangana leader. And following the same Cilarapu Damodar Raja Narasimha is been declared as the new Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. This also follows from the gentlemen's agreement that if the CM is from Andhra Region then the Deputy CM post should be given to a Telangana person and vice versa. The congress may also have plans for calming the Telangana people a little through this decision.

While there were many other names like Geeta Reddy, Shankar Rao etc that came to talk for the post of Deputy Chief Minister, Kiran Kumar Reddy chose Damodar raja Narshimha to be the best choice.

Few reasons for choosing Damodar Narsimha as the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh :

1) One major reason for it is that Damodar Raja Narsimha has never lead to any controversies and he was with the High Command thoughout this crisis period.

2) He is from SC community which accounts for 23% of the Andhra Pradesh population. Thus there will be no opposition for selecting him as the deputy Chief minister.
