Pedal Pump in Agriculture

Hi,

Couple of weeks back while watching TV I come to know about one of the technique to pump water from bore, the technique was very simple and it yeilds good results for farmers who wait for electricity.

India is the place where agriculture is the primary source of revenue, Andhra Pradesh is one of the state to follow, as we see in many news papers Electricity is the big problem for farmers in rural areas, to avoid the problem with the electricity and expensive bore machines here comes with a solution called pedal pumps.

Bamboo treadle pump involves mainly the fabrication and installation of pedals machanism, A person should manually cycle the pedals to make air in between the pump and the pedals and the air forcefully ejects water from the pipes.

Advantages using pedal pumps
1. No Electricity required/ hence reduction in Power bill
2. No costly Equipment required to pull water from bore
3. As this is manual, the whole body is exercised

Disadvantages using pedal pumps
1. Slow but reliable
2. Lot of patience required
