Changing Mobile Operator without changing you Mobile number – Mobile Number Portability

Changing to a new operator SIM card without changing your cell number. This has been possible because of Mobile Number Portability. Here are the steps you should follow to change your mobile operator.

Steps for changing your Mobile Operator

1) SMS "PORT " to 1900.

2) You will receive a 8-digit alpha-numeric code called UPC(Unique Porting Code) as an SMS from 1901.

3) Visit your nearest Showroom of the Operator you want to shift to.

4) Request for a Mobile Number Porting(MNP) Form and fill in the details of present number, operator and the UPC number.

5) Finally submit the following:
• Address and ID proof
• Photograph
• Filled-in MNP Form
• Costumor Agreement Form
• Last month Bill copy (in cast of post Paid)

6) Buy an new MNP Sim card from the new Operator.

7) You will receive an SMS from the new Operator to your old SIM giving the date and time of the porting. You may continue to use the old SIM card until the specified date and time.

8) At the porting time your Old SIM will be de activated permanently and the new SIM can be used after about 2-3hrs. This 2-3hrs you will not be having either of the networks.

9) 2-3hrs after the given porting time you can replace you old SIM with your new SIM and use it as usual.
