    Hyderabad - Telengana

This article describes of history of Hyderabad till 1956.

    1. A brief overview of telengana-hyderabad .

There is nothing like telengana according to history before 1947!

You can say there is Hyderabad state in which telengana is only the telugu speaking part in hyderabad. Remaining districts are now a part of karnataka and maharastra.
In 1684 it became part of mughal emnpire

from 1724 until 1948 it was ruled by nizam dictators

then vexed by their rule telugu speaking part of Hyderabad revolted against them to free telengana. Thus telengana came.

It should have been a part in pakistan.

But Indians forcibly took this part under their control by police action.

We atleast tried to become a seperate country like east bengal(bangladesh). That can be considered as first telengana movement

We couldnt get support from any others as it is surrounded all sides by INDIA.(I feel very bad to mention above line but im sorry despite it is a fact)

Hyderabad would have been split if it is in border like east bengal has from bengal state due to historical mistake made by BRITISH-INDIA.

Hyderabad / coastal part of our state would have been like this if police action was not taken place on muslims who revolted for seperate hyderabad/telengana.

Now we are integral part of andhra pradesh , INDIA our mother.

Telugu speaking part of telengana merged with other telegu speaking part of India to become Andhra pradesh in 1956.

    2. Hyderabad kingdom-History

Hyderabad is the capital of Andhra Pradesh. It was founded in the year 1591 by Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah, the 5th sultan of Qutb Shahi dynasty
in recognition to his wife Bhagyamati. Golconda was its capital. The richness of Hyderabad attracted Aurangazeb, a mughal ruler also the last successful ruler of mughal empire.
He invaded Hyderabad in the year 1687 and his army captured golconda fort. Mughals being not able to control such a large territory started loosing every part slowly.
Being not able to manage administration of golconda, mughals appointed governers. Soon governers took golconda under their control and they renamed golconda as
Hyderabad State. Asaf Jah became the ruler of Hyderabad. The succesors of Asaf Jah were nothing but now whom we call Nizams.

The present old city became the capital state leaving golconda fort aside. Many projects on rivers flowing in Hyderabad state were built and Hyderabad is known for its
richness. Later Nizams made a deal with British that Hyderabad state would be autonomous under Nizams control.
Time magazine in year 1937 stated that Hyderabad state was richest native state in India.

    3.Rise in Tensions

At the time of independence, Hyderabad being independent state was given freedom to choose where Hyderabd to be merged. As the rulers are Muslims, they preferred
to join in pakistan or being independent state. Nizams preferred to join Pakistan , but Mount Battern argued that how can a state surrounded by India all sides
join pakistan. So Nizams wanted to remain independent as they were already having its own army, airline, telecommunication system, railway network, postal system,
currency and radio broadcasting service. Nizams had an airbase with a squadron of bombers brought from pakistan feared in case of any attack from India.
Indians argued that it would be a strategical diadvantage having Hyderabad at its Heart and it could be dangerous.
So there was a military action named 'operation polo' to capture Hyderabad from all sides and merge in Indian Union.
Nizams had an airbase with a squadron of bombers brought from pakistan feared in case of any attack from India.

The war of words b/w Sardar patel and Hyderabad's prime minister Laik Ali went seriously like this

Sardar Patel :Hyderabad is an ulcer in the heart of India.

Laik Ali : "India thinks that if Pakistan attacks her, Hyderabad will stab her in the back. I am not so sure we would not."

Sardar Patel:"If you threaten us with violence, swords will be met with swords"

The Nizam's Frankenstein Monster Qasim Razwi told Razakars(army of hyderabad), "Death with the sword in hand, is always preferable to
extinction by a mere stroke of the pen."

Razwi :"If India attacks us I can and will create a turmoil throughout India. We will perish but India will perish also."

Thus there was a serious situation between hyderabad and India. This made Indians to go a war with Hyderabad.

    4.Indian Military action

The Indians feared of strategecial disadvantage with Hyderabad , planned to attack Hyderabad with armed forces on sept 13th .
The attack comprised of mainly two groups.

    1. one led by Major General J.N. Chaudhari attacked from solapur(West) containing

    Strike Force
    Smash Force
    Kill Force
    Vir Force

2.other led by Major General A.A. Rudra attacked from east vijaywada containing

    Gurkha Rifles
    four infantry battalions
one squadron of the 17th (Poona) Horse

    3. There were also small forces of Indian military all along the border with Hyderabad.

Indians dominated by number took control of Hyderabad with in 5 days of attack ie 13-17 september.
Nizams lost the game and surrendered before Indian envoy.

The losses of the Operation Polo were as follows

    India 32 killed, 97 wounded.
Hyderabad 1863 killed,122 wounded,3558 captured. Nizams fled away to pakistan and Hyderabad state was diamantled.

    5.Reorganisation

On Jan 26 th 1950, M. K. Vellodi was appointed as Chief Minister of Hyderabad.
After elections in 1952, Dr. Burgula Ramakrishna Rao became first elected Chief Minister of Hyderabad State.
In 1953, Andhra state was formed from Madras state. When states were reorganised on linguistic basis, Hyderabad state lost
10 disticts to Karnataka and maharastra thus seperating telugu speaking part which is now known as telengana. Andhra state
and telangana merged into single state on Nov 1 1956 with agreement on both sides thus becoming Andhra Pradesh, Pride of telugu people.

-The opinions are neutral point of view based on my research on "how telengana movement started and how to control both sides ie; telengana and non telengana".
-Sorry, if i hurt any one's view. Next resouce: "Telengana movement going in wrong direction"
