CAG Report Highlights on Andhra Pradesh Projects

CAG report released by the government in the Assembly on 29th March, 2011, created sensations. CAG reports included delays in water projects, Jalayagyam, Indiramma Housing Projects, Texes, Road Projects etc. The details of the report are as follows.
CAG Report on AP (in Congress regime) Online Highlights
Comptroller and Auditor General Report is out and was released by the government in the Assembly. The following are its highlights.
• 56 projects that were started in congress government, failed to reach completion in time. Due to the raising costs every year, this delay in constructions will cause around Rs 27,235 crore additional amount to get these projects to complete.
• Even if we forget about the amount of money, if the projects were completed in time they could have been serving people by now.

34 Irrigational Projects
:
Proposed cost : Rs 40,847crores
Expected cost due to delay : Rs 63,503 crores
•
18 Road Projects
Cost raise due to delay : Rs 91.84 crores
•
Indiramma Housing Project
Proposed Number of Houses to be constructed in 2008-09 : 38.22lakh
Proposed Number of Housesto be constructed in 2009-10 : 71,251
Actual number of completed houses in total : 7.52lakh
Number of incomplete houses : 15.71lakh
The rest have not yet been started.

Tax Revenue
2006-2007 : 24.57%
2009-2010 : 5.45%

I know that delay in the projects costs is high, but never thought that the delay cost will be so high, data given is very useful to understand this fact.
