Historical places of Hyderabad

The glory of the city hyderabad dates back 400 years when Hyderabad was made capital of their kingdom by qutub shahis.
The main historical places of Hyderabad are
1.Golconda Fort
2.Charminar
3.Hussain sagar
4.Mecca Masjid
5.Palace of falaknuma
6.Chilukur balaji temple
7.Qutub Shahi Tombs
8.Paigah Tombs

Except chilukur balaji temple remaining all are historical places of muslims as they ruled hyderabad from
1600-1950.

Golconda fort:

The fort was built by Qutub Shahi rulers in 16th century. It was the heart of hyderabad at that time. A good historical place for recreation and learning. Special light shows and sound shows are arranged for spectators and tourists in evening.
Location: It is located 11 kilometers west of hyderabad city.
How to reach: Many buses are available to golconda from many places of hyderabad. We can reach golconda also by private vehicles like cab services.

Charminar:

Charminar is land mark of Hyderabad. Charminar means four pillars. It is clearly visible from any place near old city. On the day of ID, muslims gather around charminar and perform namaaz. We can see the beauty of hyderabad from the top floor of charminar.
Location: In the heart of hyderabad ie at old city.
How to reach: Many public and private transport facilities are available to reach Hyderabad.

Hussain sagar:

It is a tributary lake of river musi built in 16th century by Qutub Shahis. Its area is about 24 sq kms. Gautama Buddha statue located at the centre of this lake is main attraction. Many parks and recreation centers are present round of this lake due to the pleasant climate near this lake.
Location: It is the central spot of Hyderabad.
How to reach: Every part of the city of hyderabad has road links with this lake.

Mecca Masjid:

It is the most sacred mosque in Hyderabad. Its bricks are made from soil brought from holy place of muslims MECCA, hence it got the name. It is famous for 2007 twin blasts.
Location: It is located in old city and it is very near to charminar.
How to reach: One can go to charminar and can reach masjid by walk.

Chilukur balaji temple:

It is also known as second tirupathi where Lord Sri Venkateshwara was incarnated to idol to satisfy needs of people who cant come to tirupathi. It is only temple in India which is not under government control and has no VIP/VVIP quotas and it doesnt accept any gifts from devottes.
Location: It is located near gandipet lake the largest fresh water lake that satisfies drinking needs of hyderabad.
How to reach: It can be reached via public or private transportation. Many private companies offer special packages for golconda and balaji temple tours.

Qutub Shahi Tombs:

These tombs are dome shaped built on elevated square bases. There are single storeyed and double storeyed tombs which are about 15 meters high. They represent the archetect skills of rulers of hyderabad.
Location: It is located 2 kilometers near golconda.
How to reach: One can go here by buses or other transport that reaches golconda fort.

Paigah Tombs

They represent the graves of several generations of paigah dynasty. It represents the architect taste of Nizam rulers.
Location: Santoshnagar. It is located 10 kilometers from centre of city of hyderabad.
How to reach: We can reach santoshnagar by local transport.
