    Mango Dal (Mamidikaya Pappu)

    Mamidikaya Pappu - Mango Pappu/Mango Dal - A delicious dish for all seasons. In India especially in south India Mamidikaya pappu is a favourite dish - Recipe for mamidikaya pappu, Number of variety dishes can be prepared with mangoes. A special dish for children and all age group.


    In summer especially in every house people prefer cooking and eating mamidikaya pappu. This is a very traditional and tasty dish. During summer especially this dish will be prepared in almost all functions. So let us see the preparation.

    Ingredients for Mamidikaya Pappu

    Tur dal (Kandi pappu) - 1 cup
    Mangoes (Mamidikaya) - 1 (big size)
    Green chillies - 10 Nos.
    Red chillies - 2 Nos.
    Onion -One
    Karivepaku - few leaves
    Kothimiri - little
    Turmeric powder - pinch
    Salt - to taste
    Jeera - 1 tsp
    Rai - 1 tsp
    Oil - 1 tsp
    Garlic - 5 pieces

    Preparation of Mamidikaya Pappu

    First wash the tur dal. Put the same in the cooker add 2 cups of water. Allow it to cook well. Give 2 steams.

    Now clean the mango. Cut into small pieces.

    Take one pan. put 1 tsp of oil, once the oil becomes hot, put garlic pieces, urad dal (minapappu), rai (aavalu), jeera (jeelakara), karivepaku. Then add chopped onions, green chillies and red chillies.

    Once the onions colour change into light brown, add the mango pieces. Put the stove on low flame only. Now add salt. Once the mango pieces become soft, add the boiled dal (pappu). Keep it on the flame for 5 minutes.

    Now the delicious dish mamidikaya pappu is ready. Garnish it with kothimira.

    For south indians it is a very good and favourite dish.
